Fellowship Baptist Church Collingwood Privacy Policy
Fellowship Baptist Church Collingwood (the Church) is dedicated to safeguarding the privacy of its members, adherents, volunteers, employees, Board members, and others from whom personal information is collected. This commitment aligns with applicable laws and the principles outlined in the Canadian Standards Association Model Code for the Protection of Personal Information.
Collection and Use of Personal Information:
The Church collects personal information in a fair, open, and lawful manner, ensuring that individuals are informed about the purposes for which their data is gathered at or before the collection occurs. This includes providing services to individuals ministered to by the Church, establishing and maintaining member lists, processing volunteer applications for Plan to Protect®, and managing payments and benefits.
Consent:
Personal information is typically used with implied consent for the internal operations of the Church. However, consent is not required where it would be inappropriate or not legally necessary.
Data Management and Security:
The Church maintains personal information accurately and keeps it up-to-date for the duration it is needed for its intended purposes. Once these purposes are fulfilled or as permitted by law, the information is securely destroyed or erased. Security measures, both physical (namely locked filing cabinets) and technological (such as secure data storage), are implemented to protect personal information against unauthorized access, commensurate with the sensitivity of the data.
Access and Correction:
Individuals have the right to access their personal information upon submitting an appropriate written request, provided that such access does not contravene any legal or contractual obligations. The Church will also amend any inaccuracies or incompleteness found in the records to ensure the data's integrity.
Disclosure:
Personal information will never be sold, rented, or leased without the explicit consent of the individual. However, if an individual withdraws their consent for information collected under Plan to Protect®, they will be withdrawn from volunteering in programs and activities involving children, youth, and vulnerable adults.
